Slow or Broken Computer? Get it Repaired Now. Here’s Why

Slow or Broken Computer? Get it Repaired Now. Here’s Why

Let’s get right to it: if your computer has something wrong with it, it is going to get in your way. It’s going to be slower, it’s going to crash, it’s going to stop you from being productive. That’s just the start of it, too.

This is precisely why computer repair is still such an important element of comprehensive IT support.

A Broken Computer Creates Problems, Even If It Doesn’t Appear Broken

Just as there’s more than one way to skin a cat, there’s (a lot) more than one way to break a computer… crucially, without ruining it, or damaging it permanently. Deleting the wrong files can reduce your desktop workstation to a high-tech brick, of course, but so can a power surge or a beverage spilled in just the wrong place.

A computer’s internal components can sustain damage that can cause the device to run less efficiently with little to no indication of what is wrong. If a device gets moved around, for instance, an internal cable may become loosened during transit that impacts its performance and stability. Internal components can also just die, particularly if the device wasn’t put together properly in the first place. A CPU can easily overheat if an engineer skimped on the cooling paste (or skipped it entirely) when building the PC. An ineffective power supply can slowly damage components as they strain to operate with less-than-sufficient juice.

Forget the hardware—your computer’s software and operating system can degrade over time too. If everything isn’t properly managed and maintained, it could lead to instability and crashes. A single application that isn’t behaving properly can chew up system resources causing your computer to behave erratically, or just slow things to a crawl. This can escalate over time, too. When you feel that something just isn’t right, it’s a good idea to investigate it before it becomes ungovernable.

Frankly, the list of issues that equate to a “broken computer” go on and on and on.

These issues could also potentially do more than just slow you down. They could lead to security issues, data loss, or a whole litany of other problems that affect more than just the user at the workstation.

So, it’s important that your team understands that a computer that still turns on could potentially be broken in some other way, and how much of an impact it can have on your business… both in terms of finances, and in terms of lost productivity. They also need to have a resource to turn to if one of them notices something wrong with their workstation and is in need of computer repair.

No Matter the Issue, Get that Computer Repaired!

Today’s technology is a wonderful thing, as it allows us a few ways to approach whatever issue your team member is having.

First off, there’s a good chance that our remote monitoring and management tools will have notified us of the issue already, and we’ll already be on the way to resolving it. What this means is, if you are a client of ours, and we are actively managing your workstations, we’re looking at your PC everyday and checking in on it, sort of like a yearly physical with a doctor (except we do it daily).

If it’s a software issue, we should be able to address it remotely. If we notice an alert or error in the logs that suggest a hardware issue, we will let you know what the steps are to mitigate it, and we’ll come on-site if needed to make sure you don’t experience downtime.

If we can’t resolve an issue from the comfort of our office, we have no problem with sending one of our technicians out to yours to take a look at the problem. While they’re on their way, our team here will do everything they can to diagnose the issue as much as they can so that our team members will have as much information as possible when they arrive.

From there, our tech will work expeditiously to diagnose the issue and complete any repairs they can on-site, bringing the offending piece of equipment to our office for more intensive repairs, should they be needed. In the meantime, we’ll provide another device for your employee to use while theirs is being seen.

That’s one of the many benefits of working with us—we can’t provide that level of service for any customer off the street until we build a relationship with you. Once you trust us to manage your IT from wall to wall, however, you’ll see a world of difference.

Our priority is to ensure that your business’ IT works for you, helping to ensure that you can be productive and successful. If you feel like you are suffering from computer problems and need someone to help you, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 607.433.2200 today.
